Guest Authentiction no Longer a Roller Coaster Ride for Canada's Largest Theme Park

What does an average day look like for the System Administrator at Cedar Parks? If you’re at Canada’s Wonderland you’ve probably started your morning with thousands of new guests coming in eager to get on rides and in line, and while they’re in lines get on the WI-FI. The demands of the park network also mean you need to take payments everywhere so staff and stations need to connect securely at all times. When looking to overcome the wired and wireless control aspects they needed a company and product that could meet the unique challenges for their network keeping complexity and cost to a minimum. Chiefly the Network and Security team needed to:

  • Provide an automated, transparent solution to onboarding devices to the network- Provide an automated, transparent solution to onboarding devices to the network
  • Automatically classify every network connected device into groups to allow payment card terminals and guests to be separated on the network.
  • Offer a single licensing scheme that would allow for variable device and user authentication without having to seasonally adjust licensing.

Luckily, as Season’s Pass holders, the IntelliGO Networks team was built for the task. Having integrated the product quickly we identified key use cases for authentication and produced a scalable, repeatable design which would allow classification, segmentation and authentication automatically. Uniquely providing a site license that would allow the park to take guests and seasonal staff into account without having to adjust licenses for the product, and still have time for funnel cake.
